Coral Gables PD

After graduation I went to Dade Community College which is now Miami Dade College.

I met my ex-husband at the USO on Miami Beach during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He made a career of the Army. He was assigned to Northern Japan during the Vietnam War. I was able to join him for 3 years in Japan. Our fraternal twin sons, Russell and Richard were born in Japan during his tour of duty. We returned to the states and divorced when our sons were 2 years old.

After the divorce I went to work in my family's business, Green Thumb Nursery, for next twenty years, while raising my sons as a single parent. The family business after forty years was sold to Pollo Tropical Chicken. I then went to work for the Coral Gables Police Department for the next twenty-two years as a Records Clerk and haven't retired yet. I was Employee of the Year for the city in 2008.

My sons also work the city. Russell has worked for Public Works for 18 years and Richard has been a police officer for 14 years. My son Russ and his wife Alex have my 13 years old identical twin granddaughters. Ashley and Jessica are enjoying middle school and are active in softball, volleyball and modeling in their spare time. My son Rick and his wife Marivi have my 11 years old granddaughter Isabella who enjoys school, guitar, dancing and her hairless dog Buddy. I have 2 cats.

I sold my motorcycle after twenty years of safe riding. Sure miss the trips to Daytona and Key West. Made some great friends.

I love keeping in touch and traveling with my three good friends from junior high: Barbara McGlynn Gaines, Elizabeth (Liz) Owre Colb and Marion Allen Beckwith (she transferred to Palmetto her senior year). I'm very fortunate that my family is all here in Miami and we get together often. I'm looking forward to retirement.

Also looking forward to our 50th HS Reunion. Hope to see you there and renew old friendships.
