Gail Ann Spring (in Joan Cronin’s Homeroom 314). Here’s a short version of my story.

In September 1962, I headed to Florida State University and graduated under the trimester system with a B.S. in mathematics. Next was two years as a teaching assistant at Texas Christian University while I earned my M.S. in 1968. My first real job was teaching math at Newtonville High School where this Southern girl saw her first real snow storm in my 20’s while living in Cambridge, MA.

Come 1970, I married Andrew I. Watson (Irv) in St. Hugh’s Catholic Church in Coconut Grove with the reception at Coral Gables First Christian Church. Irvine is a Curley High School Class of ‘61 graduate, who I met at FSU. Thanks to Uncle Sam we lived as newlyweds in Charleston, South Carolina, and then a stint in Taiwan. After opting out of the Air Force, we returned to Florida State with our son (born in Miami at Baptist Hospital in 1972) where Irv earned his B.S. and M.S. in Meteorology. Irv’s career took us back to Miami for a few years, then out to Boulder, CO (where our daughter was born in 1983) for 12 years, then 3 years in Norman, OK, and finally back to Tallahassee, FL in 1996 where he retired in 2011.

Our son lives in Aurora, CO and we enjoy spending time with them and our two granddaughters now 2 and a half and 5 years old. Our daughter just took a Smithsonian Postdoc in Cambridge, MA after earning her PhD in Astronomy from the Ohio State University. We enjoy traveling and visiting with all of them as much as their schedules permit.

I am looking forward to visiting with some of you at the 50th Reunion when our paths may cross once again. Please email me before our May weekend so we can make sure we connect during our time in the Miami area. I’m at gabbygail8@gmail.com and look forward to hearing from some of you from so long ago…..
