I'm a writer (screen and television and, lately, novels and short stories). After high school I went to the U.of M. for a year, then got a scholarship to Bennington College, in Vermont. Graduated with a B.A. in '68 and went on a Shubert Playwriting fellowship to San Francisco State. Had a play done at the Mark Taper Forum in L.A., then moved back to Miami and got involved in movie-making. I have two grown sons from my first marriage - Ethan, 34, who works at Sony Studios composing digital computer effects for movies (Most recently he worked on SPIDERMAN.); - and Adam, 25, who is a musician and works as a film processor. I was divorced in '82 and married my second wife, (and love of my life), Hilarie Thompson, an actress, in '88. We have one son, Austen, age 10, who is in his school's Gifted Program. No grandchildren yet. (I had my own!) I've had a lot of different jobs: actor, make-up man, toy designer, cartoonist, puppeteer, teacher, critic, p.r. man, film director, playwright, before I settled into being a screenwriter which I've been doing now for about 30 years. I write for film and television (most recently, THE DISTRICT on CBS on Saturday nights) and have lately started writing novels and short stories. Forty years has gone by in a blink, but I have no interest in retiring. Bring on the next 40!
