Whew- 40 years seems like a LONG time! And yet, as I look at the faces of '62, I realize my long-term memory is indeed still intact and I can recall the pleasant times together at Gables High School.
This Cavalier is alive and well in Texas, and for the past twenty-one years have been in the sole private practice of counseling in Plano, TX. I completed a Ph.D. in Counselor Education at the University of Florida in 1976, and moved to Denton, TX to teach on the faculty in Counselor Education at the University of North Texas. I left there in 1980 to start my practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I see children, adolescents, adults, families and couples, and am also certified in clinical hypnosis. I chaired the boards of the Mental Health Association of Collin County and the Maurice Barnett Geriatric Wellness Center each for two years. I continue to work with the Geriatric Wellness Center on an inactive status as we form an advisory board.
Personally, I never married, have no children, but have three cats and feed lots of birds. My mother lived with me for 15 years after my father's death in 1984, developing Alzheimer's disease by around 1994. She died in 1999, still at home, with me and several caregivers working shifts to ensure her safety. This was a challenge and a privilege for me, and is relevant to my current work with the Geriatric Wellness Center. I enjoy times with friends doing various house "projects", playing golf, and bird watching.
