Married to Jeannette Portnoy Dubrow (Gables class of 1963) since 1970 and blessed with a daughter, Jehanne, and a son, Eric. I am now on my third career. A defrocked academic, having taught French and comparative literature at Princeton and Brown, I served as a U.S. diplomat for 25 years and retired in 1998. Retirement did not suit, and I therefore went back to school to get education credits towards teacher certification. I am now in my third year as a teacher of French at a high school in Montgomery County, Maryland, which in its commitment to learning is much like Harry Rath's Gables.
